If you plan on booking with Rock Camp Outfitters, you will find us on the Southwest Coast of Newfoundland. To get to Newfoundland and on to Rock Camp Outfitters, you have two options:
Fly
You can use air services to fly into Deer Lake, Newfoundland, where you will be greeted by a representative of Rock Camp Outfitters, who will bring you on to Peter Strides Lake, on the Caribou Trail and then to your hunting destination.
Air Canada operates air services to Newfoundland with connections available from all major centers in the United States and Canada. Deer Lake Airport are nearest to our camps.
Drive
You can drive through Atlantic Canada and take the North Sydney- Port Aux Basques ferry to Newfoundland. Take the Trans-Canada Highway EAST for approximately 1.5 hours until you come to Route 480 (The Caribou Trail).
After taking the right turn on to the Caribou Trail, you have to travel for approximately one hour until you arrive at Peter Strides Lake. A representative of Rock Camp Outfitters will meet you and you will fly by bush plane or helicopter to Rock Camp.
The driving time from the ferry terminal in Port Aux Basques to Peter Strides is 2.5 hours. Marine Atlantic provides year-round service between North Sydney, Nova Scotia and Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland.
Meals
Full cooked breakfast, sandwich for lunch while hunting & hot supper.
In the evening after a long day of hunting with deserts and homemade bread made daily meals prepared by one of the best cooks in the business.
